The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that troopers seized 17 packages — weighing 46 pounds — of suspected cocaine during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 35 in Jackson County on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

At approximately 6:16 p.m., troopers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling well above the posted speed limit on U.S. 35. During the stop, a Patrol canine unit alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

A subsequent search revealed suspected cocaine concealed inside the vehicle. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is approximately $546,000 and represents a major disruption to illegal drug trafficking in the region.

The driver, Justice Simon, a 29-year-old female from Charlotte, North Carolina, was taken into custody without incident. She was transported and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. Felony drug possession and trafficking charges were filed with the Jackson Municipal Court.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues its commitment to removing illegal drugs from Ohio’s roadways and encourages the public to report impaired or suspicious driving behavior.
