Sue “Hackett” Fults

Sue “Hackett” Fults passed from this earth to her new home in Heaven on October 23, 2025. Sue was born on August 26, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio, to her parents, Margret and Richard Hackett.

She attended school in Jackson, where she graduated from Jackson High School, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Education from the University of Rio Grande. In 1966, she married Manlius Fults, with whom she shared a 45-year marriage until his passing. They lived for a time in Clearwater Beach, Florida before returning to Jackson as their permanent home. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Cher (Jeff) Bellar of Jackson; three grandsons: Cole (Victoria), Colin, and Courtland Bellar; and one great-grandson, Brody Bellar. She adored her family and spending time with them brought her so much joy.

Children were such a big part of Sue’s life. She had a long career teaching students, first at the Pinellas County, Florida School District, then as a second-grade teacher for the Jackson City Schools at Parkview Elementary. Over the years, many former students would cross her path as adults and would take the time to share with her how much having her as a teacher had meant to them. After her retirement, she continued her work with children as a volunteer “Grandpal” for RSVP and then coming full circle as a “Foster Grandparent” at the Jackson Headstart Center, the former Parkview school building.

Sue was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jackson. She loved reading and instilled a love of books in many young people, including her daughter and grandsons. She also became an avid Bingo player at Buckeye Forest (Heartland), where she resided for several years.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Buckeye Forest and Mount Carmel for their kindness and support during her time there.

Sue’s journey of life was one of love for family, compassion for others, generosity to those in need, commitment to education and profound faith in God. Her impact on those whose lives she touched is immeasurable.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 31, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a private family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the kids’ program at the Jackson City Library. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mayhewbrownfuneralhome.com.
