Old Man Winter packs a punch




After a period of subzero temperatures last week, the local area took another belt from Old Man Winter as a snowstorm dumped about 7 to 8 inches of snow late Sunday night and early Monday morning, February 2-3.

By the time the snow stopped falling in the late-morning hours Monday, various local weather spotters were reporting total snowfall in the ranges of 7.5 inches to 8.2 inches at different locations in Jackson County and a total of 7 inches in the McArthur and Wilkesville areas of Vinton County.
