The Public Employee Retirees, Inc. (PERI), Jackson County Chapter No. 55, will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18.
The meeting will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, located at 225 Church St. in Jackson. All retired public employees from township, city, county and state agencies, as well as their spouses, are invited to attend. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided for attendees.
Kathryn Metz, Senior Outreach and Education Specialist for the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, will be the featured speaker at this meeting. The Ohio Consumers Council Office is dedicated to representing and advocating for the interests of Ohio’s consumers. The office strives to ensure that consumers’ voices are heard on matters affecting their daily lives by offering support, resources, and engaging in outreach, education and assistance initiatives. Their work focuses on protecting consumer rights and promoting fair practices throughout the state.
During the meeting, Kathryn Metz will address the topic of electric energy prices and provide recommendations for reducing utility costs. With utility expenses expected to rise in the coming year, she will discuss strategies to help attendees save on utilities, including the importance of carefully reviewing any offers from utility suppliers to secure lower rates.
Alongside Kathryn Metz’s presentation on consumer protection strategies, PERI District VII Representative Chris Shank will deliver updates regarding recent PERI Board meetings and legislative activities that could impact OPERS pensions.
