Mae Ann “Cookie” Allison

Mae Ann “Cookie” Allison, 83, of Waverly, Ohio, passed at 2:03 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at her home. Cookie was born July 20, 1940, in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Herman Rice and Rachel Blanche (Woodruff) Rice.

She was united in marriage to Roger Burke Allison, who preceded her in death on October 5, 2008.

She is survived by a daughter, Cassandra (Eric) Jones of Waverly; a son, Chad (Andrea) Allison of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren: Corey (Drew) Marcello, Jacob B. Allison, and Chase D. Jones; and two great-grandchildren: Jay Marcello and Mackenzie Marcello.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Janie Hudgins; and nephew, John Hudgins.

Cookie was a loyal Reds fan and loved watching college football. She graduated from Jackson High School, got her bachelor’s in education from Rio Grande University and her Master’s in Guidance Counseling from Xavier University. She was an educator for 30 plus years, teaching high school at both Huntington and Piketon High Schools, and she also was the Elementary School Guidance Counselor for the Waverly City School District.

As per Cookie’s request, there will be no services. She wanted everyone to celebrate her life in their own personal way. In lieu of flowers, please consider calling your loved ones and telling them that they are on your mind. Do something nice for someone. Go outside and plant a flower or tree. Be kind to each other. That’s what mom would have wanted.

Memorial donations may be made to Piketon High School Academic Honors Banquet Fund, Scioto Valley Treasurer, P. O. Box 600, Piketon, OH 45661, or the Pike County Library Foundation, pikecountylibrary.org/foundation, in Cookie’s honor.
