Local closures announced for JuneteenthFree Access


Juneteenth, which is now a federal holiday, is Monday, June 19. The holiday celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. The following entities in Jackson and Vinton counties will be either closed or open in observance of that holiday. Trash collection schedule may vary as well.

Village of Coalton

All Coalton Village Offices will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20. The holiday doesn’t affect the trash pick-up schedule.

City of Jackson

All Jackson City Offices will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20. Monday’s trash will be picked up on Tuesday, along with the regular trash route. All garbage must be out to the curbside no later than 6 a.m. the day of collection.

Village of Oak Hill

All Oak Hill Village Offices will be open Monday, June 19.

City of Wellston

All Wellston City Offices will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20. Monday’s trash will be picked up on Tuesday, along with the regular trash route. All garbage must be out the night before as the crews will be running double routes.

Jackson County

All Jackson County government offices will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20. The Jackson County Clerk of Courts Title Department/BMV Deputy Registrar will be closed on Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20 for regular hours.

Village of Hamden

All Hamden Village Office will be open Monday, June 19.

Village of McArthur

All McArthur Village Offices will be open Monday, June 19.

Vinton County

All Vinton County government offices will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20. The Vinton County Clerk of Courts Title Department/BMV Deputy Registrar will be closed Monday, June 19. They will reopen on Tuesday, June 20 for regular hours.
