The inaugural Total Media Sports Tip-Off Tournament, played at Jackson High School on Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 21-22, proved to be a big success as it served as the launching pad for a new high school basketball season by bringing together the four local girls’ teams from Jackson and Vinton counties. When it was all over, the Vinton County Lady Vikings hoisted the big traveling trophy after earning a 53-48 hard-fought victory on Saturday over the host Jackson Ironladies. The Oak Hill Lady Oaks captured third place with a 34-30 victory over the Wellston Lady Golden Rockets. Pictured are the Vinton County Lady Vikings posing with the traveling trophy which they took home as the champions and which will be on the line each year of the tournament.
