JIMMY DEAN COMPTON

Jimmy Dean Compton, age 88, of Oak Harbor, WA passed away on June 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on November 29, 1936, in Lackey, KY, son of Jasper and Versie (Thornsberry) Compton.

He graduated in 1956 from Beaver High School, Beaver, OH. Jim served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He retired in 2000 from Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Piketon, OH. Jim also owned and operated Compton’s Greenhouse in Jackson, OH for 38 years, which he dearly enjoyed.

Jim was a true husband, a devoted father, a loving grandfather, a loyal friend, a brother in Christ. He was more than a good man — he was a Champion of the Faith, a shining example of what it means to be a Christian. He lived his faith boldly and consistently, unwavering in his stand for the Apostolic Truth, for which he stood for 52 years. A man whose life was marked by prayer, integrity, and the Fruit of the Spirit. His legacy will live on — not only in his family, but in the lives of all of us who were blessed to walk beside him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Glenna Gregory, Ernestine Overly; and brother, Roger Compton. He is survived by his wife, Connie Compton; and two daughters: Gina (Rev. Greg) Adkins and Tina (Phillip) Adkins. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Joshua (Ashley) Adkins, Joel (Kimberly) Adkins, and Jessica (Felix) Aguilar. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, all of Oak Harbor, WA; two special loved ones, whom he considered as grandchildren: Kimberly (Johnny) Crabb and David Bear, Columbus, OH. Also surviving is his sister, Bonnie (Kenny) Rider; brother, Rodney (Darlene) Compton; brother-in-law, Roger Overly; and a host of nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Apostolic Church, Oak Harbor, WA on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. Services begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Greg Adkins officiating.
