Jackson County Court of Common Pleas launches new websiteFree Access

The Jackson County Court of Common Pleas, Probate and Juvenile Divisions recently launched a new website, accessed by visiting www.jcjuvenilecourt.com and www.jcprobatecourt.com.

Visitors can find step by step how-to information for filings, filing fees, court rules, standard forms for paternity establishment, custody establishment and modification of prior custody orders. Wedded couples to be can now complete marriage license applications online and select an appointment day and time to appear at the court to sign their application. Additionally, applicants can now request certified marriage records by submitting a form on the website.

Finally, the probate, private custody, child support, and adult criminal dockets are available for public inspection on the website, but the types of information available remain a work in progress. The court asks for patience as they continue to work toward providing additional information that is publicly searchable through the website.

“Please take a minute and visit our website to meet the staff of the Probate and Juvenile Courts and learn about Juvenile Court programming,” said Judge Justin Skaggs of the Jackson County Court of Common Pleas. “Please feel free to drop us a note with any suggested site improvements. The ultimate goal here is to expand court access to the public. Too often, folks with limited resources don’t have the same access to court services as others. We are trying to level the playing field.”

The entirety of the design and construction of the website was funded by a technology grant received by the Probate and Juvenile Court from the Supreme Court of Ohio. The website was built and designed by Metropolis Design Studios in Chillicothe at the direction of Judge Justin Skaggs.
