Hammond Hardware and Lumber store co-owners Steve and Melissa Hammond have opened a new and modern business, on State Route 93 (106 N. Main St.) in Hamden with some novel ideas and concepts in play. But in so doing, they are also embracing the history of the 1902 vintage building and creating an atmosphere which conjures up the images of a hometown hardware store from yesteryear.

Jackson County BOE office moving to JFS facility on South Street
Move expected to take place following the May 4 Primary ElectionAfter months of recent discussions and years of behind-the-scenes work, it has officially been announced that the Jackson County Board of Elections (BOE) office, currently located in the Courthouse Annex on Portsmouth Street in Jackson, will soon be relocating to the rear/lower portion of the Jackson County Job and Family Services (JFS) facility at 25 E. South Street, also in Jackson.
COVID cases still low, but two deaths reported
The number of new COVID-19 cases remains low in both Jackson County and Vinton County, but the virus is still around and some of its victims are still dying.

A century of great music at VCHS
This weekend will be a big one at Vinton County High School as the Vinton County Viking Players will be presenting a musical performance concert entitled The 20th Century Celebration. The students will be performing songs in chronological order from the 1900’s decade through the 1990’s and be in the costumes of that particular decade.

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action, will be hosting a mobile food distributionat the Vinton County Fairgrounds on Friday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until 12 a.m.
