The Wellston Golden Rockets and Athens Bulldogs football game was canceled on Friday night due to Covid-19 concerns on the Athens team.

 

FOOTBALL: Vikings lose heartbreaker in double-overtime to Nelsonville-York



McARTHUR – The Vinton County Vikings varsity football team (2-2) relinquished a fourteen-point lead on Friday night, losing to the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes (2-2) by a score of 17-14 on Friday night.  It took two overtime sessions to decide the winner. Still, the Buckeyes came from behind to claim the victory on Homecoming night for the Vikings.  All of the scoring by Vinton County came in the first half. Nelsonville-York scored all of its points in the second half and in the second overtime.

JACKSON – The Jackson Ironladies defeated Hillsboro 1-0 on Tuesday in a Frontier Athletic Conference girls’ soccer match at Alumni Stadium.

 

BOYS SOCCER: Ironmen soccer powers past Waverly 3-0




JACKSON – The Jackson Ironmen played well in a 3-0 non-conference win over Waverly Thursday night at Alumni Stadium. The win raises Jackson’s record to 5-2-1.

VOLLEYBALL: Jackson falls in five sets to Washington



JACKSON – The Jackson Ironladies had a 13-8 lead in the fifth set against Washington Court House, but the Lady Blue Lions rallied back to get the win in a Frontier Athletic Conference volleyball match on Thursday. Set scores were 13-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, and 13-15.

VOLLEYBALL: Lady Vikings get sweep over Meigs



McARTHUR – The Vinton County Lady Vikings picked up their seventh straight victory on Tuesday, winning in straight sets (25-16, 25-14, and 25-19) over Meigs in a Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division volleyball match at home.
