Pig Iron Day returns Saturday, August 1



The Jackson Firefighters Association will conduct the annual Pig Iron Day event on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Manpower Park in Jackson. The event features low-cost food, a live auction, the distribution of free commemorative pig iron bars, the Wheels of Steel Car Show and recorded music.

Keystone Station Road closure reset for Monday, Tuesday July 27-28



Jackson County Engineer Melissa Miller announced that the pipeline contractor has postponed the scheduled closure of Keystone Station Road due to the weather. The closure has been rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28.

Vinton Township Fiscal Officer Cy Vierstra is the subject of an investigation at three different levels of government, according to a press release from the office of Vinton County Prosecuting Attorney Trecia Kimes-Brown.

VCNB to open new Jackson Banking Center this Monday



The new Jackson County Banking Center of the Vinton County National Bank (VCNB) will begin operating from its newly built office this Monday, July 27. The new office is located at 471 McCarty Lane, just around the corner from the current Jackson branch, which is located at 920 Veterans Drive.
