Troopers seize $11,800 worth of cocaine and marijuana in Jackson County



Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a West Virginia man after a recent traffic stop in Jackson County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 118 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of marijuana worth approximately $11,800.

No fault determined in Wellston wreck



The Wellston Police Department (WPD) investigated a two-vehicle crash on Monday night, Feb. 24, which closed a section of South Pennsylvania Avenue (State Routes 93/327) for about an hour.

I was at my favorite beach yesterday, and was surprised to see 50-foot-long sections of pipe lined up in front of the dunes.  My first reaction was they must be putting in new storm sewers. To my right were old rusty metal pipe sections, and to my left were brand new plastic pipe sections.

A McArthur man faces charges from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a wreck near McArthur this past Monday, Feb. 24.

UPDATE: Hamden Council opts not to sign extension for Wellston water services



Despite having previously requested a 90-day extension with the City of Wellston for water services, Hamden’s Village Council voted recently not to sign the extension and to continue on with the switchover to Jackson County Water as originally planned.
