And it wasn’t for positive reasons as both newspapers published in-depth stories about the opioid-pain-pill epidemic and spotlighted Jackson County as one of top per capita consumers.

Hall of Famers toasted by Sts. Peter and Paul School



Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School (SPPS) hosted an event on Saturday, July 27 to induct five very deserving people to its Alumni Hall of Fame. Mark Anderson, Father Leo Connolly, John Jackson, Dorothy Riepenhoff, and Sue Wells made the 2019 list of inductees for their years of service to not only SPPS, but to the community as well. Anderson was tasked with double duty this year—he was responsible for the welcome address, as well as introducing most of the honorees this year.

Oak Hill Village government is inviting residents in the village to participate in a Community Yard Sale this Saturday, Aug. 3. There is no registration or fee required and participants are invited to set their own hours for their sales and set up on their own properties.

State sales tax holiday this weekend



FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL NEEDS:

Once again, Ohio will observe a sales tax holiday on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of August each year to help relieve some of the costs associated with back-to-school shopping. For 2019, the sales tax holiday will begin this Friday, Aug. 2 at 12:00 a.m. and end on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 11:59 p.m. Since the sales tax holiday is set by law, all vendors must comply.
