CORRECTION: Jackson Food Program/Clothesline hours clarified



In a recent article on the annual Ground Hog Day Brunch which supports the Jackson Food Program/Clothesline, the hours of operation were incorrectly listed for the Jackson Food Program/Clothesline. Director Nancy Jordan advises the hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for food; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the store operation. The Jackson Food Program/Clothesline is located at 276 E. Main St. in downtown Jackson, across the street from the Markay Cultural Arts Center.

Groundbreaking ceremony planned Sunday, Feb. 24 for new livestock barn at fairgrounds



The Jackson County Fair Board will be conducting a groundbreaking/fundraising kickoff ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 in the barn area of the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Wellston to celebrate the Fair Board’s major construction plans for this year. Those plans call for the construction of a new livestock barn, which will also house a junior fair office. The new building is to be completed in time for the 2019 Jackson County Fair, which is set for July 12-20.

Compromise figures proposed for Jackson mayor’s salary



In the continuing debate regarding the salary of the Jackson mayor, three city councilmen have stated they would support a compromise figure between the current $50,000 a year and the proposed reduction to $25,000 a year.
