MINFORD - The Oak Hill Lady Oaks traveled to Minford Thursday evening to take on the undefeated Lady Falcons and ran into a buzz saw for the second straight game, losing the SOC encounter by a final score of 68-26.
The win improves the Lady Falcons overall record to 12-0 and 8-0 in SOC Division II play. Oak Hill dropped to 9-5, 6-4.
Oak Hill's offense and defense seemed almost non-existent, as they could not stop the Lady Falcons on either end of the floor. On the offensive end, the Lady Oaks connected on just 7 of 32 (22 percent) field goal and was 0 of 7 from beyond the three-point arc.
Minford, on the other hand, netted 22 of 52 (42 percent) shots, including 10 of 21 (47.6 percent) from three-point range. Minford also held a 32-23 edge on the boards in a game that had 46 total turnovers combined.
As was the case just three days earlier against Wheelersburg, Oak Hill was limited to single-digit scoring in three of its four quarters. The Lady Falcons jumped out to a five-point lead and finished the quarter with a 13-3 run to lead 20-3.
Oak Hill's scoring improved in the second quarter as it tallied 12 points, which included eight made free throws. The Lady Falcons, however, led 42-15 at the break. The Lady Oaks never recovered from the halftime deficit.
Caitlyn Brisker scored 13 points to lead Oak Hill, while Minford had 11 different players reach the scoring column. Marissa Reisner scored 13 points to lead the Lady Falcons while Erin Daniels added 12 and Ashley Blankenship had 10.
The Lady Oaks return home to face Coal Grove Dawson-Bryant in a non-league matchup on Monday. Their game at Wellston, scheduled for today, has been postponed with no makeup date scheduled.
Wheelersburg 42, Oak Hill 21
OAK HILL - The Oak Hill Lady Oaks were held scoreless in the first quarter and lost 42-21 against Wheelersburg in a SOC Division II girls' basketball game on Monday.
Oak Hill missed all seven of its shot attempts and had 10 turnovers in the opening period. The Lady Pirates, who made 5 of 13 (38.4 percent) shots from the field, including 6-for-6 from the free throw line, jumped out to an 18-0 lead and never trailed.
Caitlyn Brisker scored eight points to lead the Lady Oaks and Olivia Clarkson added five. Abby Kallner scored a game-high 13 points to lead three Lady Pirates' players, who scored in double figures. Kaylee Darnell chipped in with 11 points and Ellie Ruby had 10.
