OAK HILL - The Waverly Lady Tigers scored in every inning at Oak Hill Monday evening and rolled to a 19-2 mercy rule win over the Lady Oaks in SOC Division II play.
Waverly banged out 12 hits while limiting their hosts to just five safeties, all of the one base variety. Oak Hill did hit the ball as just three went down swinging, but they couldn't string anything together with any consistency.
The Lady Tigers scored all the runs they would need in their initial at bat. Doles led off with a single, and would later score, along with Moriah Burton and Evans, who also singled, on a bases-loaded triple off the bat of Hannah Robinson. She would score on a single by Blair, who later crossed the plate as a result of a throwing error.
Oak Hill answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame after Timea Burnett and Bailey McNerlin opened with back-to-back singles, and later scored on a single by Andrea Lewis, the only Lady Oaks player with multiple hits.
Then euphoria of the two run first was short-lived as Waverly scored five more times in the second frame on just one hit. Oak Hill committed an error and four batters reached via the free pass. All but one of those ladies would cross the plate as Waverly extended their lead to 10-2.
Over the remaining four frames, Oak Hill got runners aboard, but couldn't get a run home, while the Lady Tigers added three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and sealed the deal with two more in the fifth.
