Elections Board rules Loretta Jones can run as independent candidate for Jackson City Council
Loretta Jones' hat is still in the ring.

After conducting a hearing Monday morning on a formal protest of her candidacy, the Jackson County Elections Board voted unanimously to allow her to run as an independent candidate for at-large city councilman in Jackson in November's general election.

FLASH FLOOD WARNING issued for Jackson, Vinton counties for Friday evening
As of 7:05 p.m. Friday, the Vinton County Emergency Management Office is reporting heavy rains were causing flooding and trees are down on U.S. Route 50, State Route 93 and many other roads in the county are flooded.

City of Wellston releases list of mowing violators
Wellston Mayor Connie Pelletier has released the addresses of properties within the city which have been identified as being in current violation of the city's mowing ordinance, which requires high grass and weeds to be mowed by certain dates of the spring and summer.

Dump truck driver injured in accident off Sour Run Road
A Beaver area man was injured Tuesday afternoon, June 20, when the dump truck he was operating was involved in a work-related accident on Sour Run Road in Jackson County.

Only a few details about the incident were immediately available from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Tedd Frazier reports the accident happened at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday on private property at 621 Sour Run Road, which is approximately 1½ miles from the U.S. 35 Route intersection in Jackson Township.

Warrington released from W.Va. hospital; extradition planned
The Wellston man who is charged with Felonious Assault in connection with the alleged assault of his ex-wife last week in Wellston has been released from the hospital in West Virginia and local officials plan to extradite him back to Ohio.

Traffic is now flowing more smoothly and directly into and out of downtown Jackson as the portion of East Main Street from Bridge to Portsmouth streets reopened Friday morning following a major resurfacing project, which took just short of three months to complete.
