Jackson firefighters don new gear
Thanks to a federal grant, Jackson city firefighters are now equipped with new personal protective equipment.

The Jackson Fire Department was awarded a $51,243 grant last August from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which was used to purchase 16 complete sets of personal protective equipment for each firefighter.

To accommodate absentee, including early in-person voters, for the May 2 Primary Election, the Jackson County Elections Office will be open one extra hour each day this week. Office hours will be 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day Monday through Friday, April 24-28.
