It's official. Jackson City Councilman Ron Queen is running as an independent candidate for Jackson County commissioner in November's general election.
The Jackson County Board of Elections certified Queen's petitions as an independent candidate in a meeting held Wednesday afternoon, June 6. Queen will be running against Republican candidate and fellow Jackson City Councilman Jon Hensler, who defeated Randy Evans in the May 8 primary election. Queen and Hensler are running for the commissioner's seat currently held by Republican Jerry Hall, who is not seeking re-election. There is no Democratic candidate.
Queen currently serves as a second ward councilman in the City of Jackson and was most recently elected in 2017 as an independent candidate. His current council term runs through the end of 2019.
Write-in candidates for elected positions on the general-election ballot must file no later than a deadline of 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27.
