Mother, daughter both cited after wreck at store lot

A 16-year-old Ross County girl and her mother were both charged as the result of a minor one-car crash on the lot of the Midway Quick Mart at 137 E. Huron St. in Jackson. Jackson Police officers were called at 4:31 p.m. Sunday, July 9 to Midway Quick Mart where a car had reportedly run into a bench in front of the building, then drove away from the scene. However, the car returned to the scene a short time later, apparently because a man had seen the wreck, followed the involved car and advised the occupants to return to the store. When the car returned to the store, Karen C. Barnes, 41, of Adelphi was in the driver's seat and her 16-year-old daughter was a passenger. However, witnesses at the store told police that the teenage girl was driving at the time of the wreck. Police determined the two had changed places after they had left the scene. As it turned out, the teenager did not have a driver's license or permit and the Barnes had only a learner's permit and not a driver's license. The 16-year-old was charged with Delinquent Child, Failure To Control and No Operator's License. Barnes was charged with Wrongful Entrustment Of A Motor Vehicle. Damages were minor to both the car and the bench.

According to Sheriff Tedd Frazier, deputies were called to a residence at 12461 Beaver Pike at the Limerick Road intersection in the early-morning hours of Sunday, June 18, after a 9-1-1 call was received from a man who was threatening to shoot anyone who showed up at his nearby residence. The Jackson Police Department and the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol provided additional manpower support. Officers encountered a male and female outside the residence at 12461 Beaver Pike and other young people inside the residence who all appeared to have consumed alcohol. Hunter Beckett, 18, of 12461 Beaver Pike, Jackson, and Christopher Evans, 18, of Wheelersburg, were both charged with Underage Consumption.
