An 8-year-old Jackson girl has been chosen to be part of the TLC reality show Toddlers & Tiaras.
The show, which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m., follows children and their families as they prepare and compete in pageants across the country.
The spotlight will be on Southview Elementary student Tiffany Ward and her family and friends for an episode when she takes part in the Ohio Southern Celebrity pageant in Athens, Ohio.
Tiffany's mother, Cynthia Ward, said they are very excited, but nervous to be on the show. "We thought it would be neat to be on TV and have the pageant filmed," she said, adding that she knows the film crews will be looking to capture dramatic, less-than-pleasant moments.
Ward said the cameras will follow Tiffany through everything as she gets a spray tan; gets her hair, makeup and nails done; picks up her dress and baton uniform; and more.
The filming will conclude after the Ohio Southern Celebrity pageant where Tiffany will be competing in three categories -- talent, beauty and outfit of choice.
Tiffany said her talent is baton and she has been doing it since she was 2 years old.
Tiffany got her start in pageants when her maternal grandmother entered her in her first pageant when she was 9 months old. Tiffany's mother said she was in pageants when she was younger, but did not enjoy them, so she was hesitant when her mother wanted Tiffany to compete. But after Tiffany's grandmother passed away, Ward said she continued to enter her daughter in pageants in memory of her.
Tiffany has since been competing in two pageants a month and won the local Razzle Dazzle crown and trophy.
Tiffany said she enjoys pageants and is very excited to be on TV, but Ward said she is nervous that when the cameras come around, her young daughter will not be her usual outgoing self.
Nonetheless, filming starts Thursday, February 25, and runs through the day of the pageant, Saturday, February 27.
