120th Annual Limerick Grange Bean Dinner Aug. 19
The 120th Annual Limerick Grange Bean Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Limerick Grange #1917, 44 Savageville Road, Limerick Community, Jackson. The menu will include beans (white or brown), cornbread and coffee. Prices are: $4 for adults or $2 for children under age 12. Beans-to-go will also be available (bring your own container); 1 quart dipper, $2. Other concessions will include hot dogs, sloppy joes, pies and cakes (whole or by the slice) and cold drinks; and there will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing.
PERI Annual District Meeting at Extension Center Aug. 24
The PERI Annual District Meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Jackson Extension Center, 17 Standpipe Hill, 1 mile S. of Jackson off SR 93. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10:30. The speakers include Jeff Hedrick, Steve Toth, OSHIP, and Greg Erwin. All PERI members are urged to come and meet the State Director, new District Director, and hear about legislation proposed for OPERS.
Red Hat Razzle Dazzle Ladies to Meet at Truck Stop Aug. 25
The Red Hat Razzle Dazzle Ladies will meet on Friday, Aug. 25 beginning at 12 p.m. at the A&A Truck Stop on U.S. Route 35. Don't forget to bring a non-perishable item for the food bank.
Homecoming at Rt. 327 Holiness Church
Homecoming Services will be held at Rt. 327 Holiness Church on Aug 24 to 27. Services on Aug. 24-26 begin at 7 p.m. nightly. On August 27, an all-day meeting will be held with Sunday School 9:30, dinner at noon, and Songfest at 2 p.m. There will be special singing by the Kennedy's. Reverend Jimmy Vandagriff and congregation invite everyone.
Christ UMC "Worship at the Markay" Aug. 20
Christ United Methodist Church will be having "Worship at the Markay" on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m. This service of praise and worship will include various styles of music, prayers and, given the events of the past week, a very timely message focusing on relational wisdom: getting along with others. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Farm-City Field Day Sept. 14; Meeting Aug. 21
The Jackson County Farmers Club will meet Monday, Aug. 21 at the Jackson County Extension Office off State Route 93 south of Jackson at 7 p.m. with a light meal at a cost of $5. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. The focus will be to plan the 2017 Farm-City Field Day which is set for Sept. 14 at Circle M Farms Feed and Supply on State Route 776 just south of State Route 32. Humane Society Yard Sale at Faith Lutheran Sept. 1
The Humane Society of Jackson County Yard Sale is set for Saturday, Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church on Huron Street, Jackson. Donations can be dropped off at the church, Friday, Sept. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Hollback Family Reunion at M-J Bingo Hall Aug. 20

"First Friday Feasts" at Presbyterian Church Aug. 25, Sept. 1
A "First Friday Feast" at the Presbyterian Church of Jackson, located at 225 Church St. (across from Apple Tower), will be held on Friday, Aug. 25 and Friday, Sept. 1, with serving from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The First Friday Feasts are held regularly each month.
