Racing action will return to the Zaleski State Forest this Friday afternoon, May 18.
The racers will be participating in the Zaleski Forest Rally, which is a part of the Southern Ohio Forest Rally, scheduled for May 18-20. Racing action begins at 2 p.m. and will continue throughout Friday afternoon in the Zaleski area.
Last year, the event drew good crowds and is proving to be a good tourism event for the county with some vendors set up along the course.
Before the race starts, the racing vehicles will be on display in downtown McArthur. According to the McArthur Police Department, U.S. Route 50 will be closed, in the same fashion it is for the Wild Turkey Festival, from Thursday at 10 p.m. until Friday at 10 p.m.
As part of the display, fans will have a chance to meet the drivers and the cars will be started. Last year, they were set up on High Street in front of the old high school, but organizers wanted to move the event the event to the downtown area.
The police department wants to remind the public U.S. Route 50 will be detoured during the Vinton County High School graduation ceremony and is asking drivers to keep this in mind.
