There are many words found in the books in the library and they are incorporated into songs. This was the message local entertainer Dan Daly, along with his group, the Lovely Tami and Rockin' Ricky, performed at a recent session of the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library's Summer Reading Program.
During the Monday, July 3 session, Daly and the group displayed some vintage instruments to the children and sang several songs. One of those was This Land is Your Land and several other songs appealing to youth.
Some of the students had a chance to be on stage with the group. Daly played many instruments including a guitar, banjo and fiddle and noted there are many different kinds of music the band can play. He explained their musical format includes country, rock, bluegrass and folk along with many more genres. He stated music can open many doors, is a great way to learn and to express a person's talents. As the session broke up, each student received a wooden flute to play.
Librarian Diana Johnston thanked Daly and his group for the performance and noted the children can see live wolves at the next Summer Reading Program.
