For the first time in many years, the Vinton County Athletic Boosters' 4th of July Celebration will be having a Nashville-based recording artist as the featured entertainment.
Jason Michael Carroll will be taking the stage Saturday night July 1, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Vinton County High School Cafetorium for a paid ticketed show. Tickets are $10 at the door and $15 for seating on the first four rows.
Carroll is a North Carolina native and has been a hit maker in Music City since 2006 with popular songs entitled: Alyssa Lies (#5), Living on our Side (#6), and Where I'm from (#11). He is also planning to release his first album since 2011. He has also performed on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry and many other well-known venues. He has come a long way since his father punished him for having the Acky Breaky Heart record in his bedroom as his father was a devout Christian minister who thought commercial music was evil.
"We are proud Jason Michael Carroll is coming and we thank the Vinton County National Bank for their sponsorship," said Vinton County Athletic Boosters President Tami Collins. "Without them, we could not have had him appear here."
The bank is celebrating its 150th anniversary and has grown into a regional-banking company with 17 locations around the area and in the Columbus-metro region. It was one of the first area banks to be loaning money after the 2008 financial crisis and gained notoriety for airing "we have money to lend" commercials.
Collins says the concert will be great, but notes there are many other activities during the Boosters' Celebration, including the Miss and Little Miss Vinton County contests, a parade and an 1892-style baseball game, As always, all proceeds from the Boosters Celebration will benefit the Vinton County High School athletic program.
