After 10 years of successfully serving the Vinton County community from their location on Spring Street, John and Connie McGee have moved their Spring Street Sports operation to a new location on West Main Street in downtown McArthur just across from McClure's Restaurant.
McGee explained the operation is a family business that deals in much more than sports logos. It is a total advertising and promotion business that also makes specialized trophies. McGee stated the business has become well-known for its selection of Vinton County High School shirts, hats and other merchandise.
As a matter of fact, it was the former lack of Vikings merchandise that prompted the beginning of the business.
"We were going to the Convo to watch the Vikings and my wife wanted to know where to get a Vikings shirt," said McGee. "I told her I thought in Wellston or Athens, so we felt a T-shirt would be a good venture."
However, McGee says the business's advertising side is doing quite well also, as a number of businesses have ordered jackets, shirts, hats and other specialty items. The business also provides embroidery lettering options and block-letter sewing.
McGee stated another aspect of the business is advertising signage made for businesses, political candidates, and organizations. He stated they either have, or can make, logos of either national or local origins.
The business accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards and can make special payment arrangements for large or government orders. Current business hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. but these times may change in the future. For more information about the business, visit them on Facebook at Spring Street Sports.
