5/19/2017 4:48:00 PM Airplane crashes at VC Airport, but no injuries
The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating an airplane crash which occurred late Wednesday afternoon, May 17 at the Vinton County Airport in which the pilot and the three passengers all escaped uninjured.
The Patrol reports the crash occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. when a single-engine airplane being piloted by Nicholas D. Rupert, 67, of New Plymouth attempted to land after an equipment malfunction. The pilot attempted to land the plane which traveled off the right side of the runway and struck some trees.
The plane was occupied by three passengers, Cory Markin, 24, of Logan, Courtney Stamm, 27, of Logan, and James Thompson, 65, of McArthur. No injuries were reported. The Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting a separate investigation. The crash also remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
