Mildred Nona (Jenkins) Bangert

Mildred Nona (Jenkins) Bangert, age 83, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 with her daughters by her side at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus Ohio. She was born April 4, 1929 in Gallia County to the late David and Genevieve (Bolles) Jenkins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Bangert; son, Charles Bangert; and brother, Rev. Gomer Jenkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Pat (Glenn) Hurt, of Edmonton, Kentucky, and Judy (John) Ryster, of Jackson; grandchildren, Jason (Brandy) Hurt, of Stanford Kentucky, Johnnie Ryster, and Jesse Ryster, both of Jackson; great grandchildren, Elijah G. Hurt, Anna E. Hurt and Wyatt A. Hurt, all of Stanford, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Shirley Jenkins, of Oak Hill; and several nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was a retired teacher from the Oak Hill School District, retired Sunday School Teacher, member of choir, director of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Oak Hill. Retired Curator, Welsh-American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill, and a retired local columnist for The Jackson County Times-Journal and The Jackson County Telegram newspapers. She spearheaded The Welsh Medieval Banquet and the Festival of Flags.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Welsh-American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill with burial to follow in C.M. Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again from 10 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 until the time of the service at the Welsh-American Heritage Museum. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill.

Mildred loved flowers, trees and all living things; however, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Welsh-American Heritage Museum, 225 South Front Street, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656, to support the continuance of annual Gymanfa Ganus for generations to come.
