10/9/2017 8:54:00 AM Jackson SWCD to hold Annual Meeting and Banquet on Oct. 19
The Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will hold its 73rd Annual Meeting and Banquet on Oct. 19 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1384 Cove Road, Jackson.
This year's annual meeting and banquet begins at 6 p.m. with registration and voting for two members of the Board of Supervisors. Nominees that have been selected by the nominating committee are: Jenna Bowman, Bill Clark, and Don Fulton. To be eligible to vote in the election, one must be a resident of or own property in Jackson County, and must be at least 18 years of age. County residents and landowners have two additional options to vote for board members. One may call or stop by the district office to request an absentee ballot, or one may cast their vote at the district office until 12 p.m. on Oct. 19.
Volunteers of Wesley UM Church will be catering the banquet that begins at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will include meat loaf, turkey and dressing, cheesy potatoes, choice of vegetable, salads, roll, desserts, drinks and costs $15 per person. Children ages 6 to 12 will be $6.
Following the dinner, Will Newman, Pheasants Forever Farm Bill Biologist, will share his work with restoring Ohio pheasant and quail habitat through the Farm Bill programs. The Jackson SWCD will then present the Outstanding Cooperator of the Year Award. Also, the "Best of Show" award from the Hay Show held at this year's Farm-City Field Day will be given. After the awards, the results of the election for Board of Supervisors will be announced.
