On June 29, Rick Callebs met with Jackson County Commissioners and offered to build a Web site at no cost as part of his classwork toward a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration at the University of Rio Grande.
Commissioners accepted the offer immediately and Callebs set to work.
On July 20, Callebs sent word that the new site is operational, although he continues to improve it.
You can find the new Web site at www.jacksoncountygovernment.org. Callebs has provided links to so many government offices, other governments, and activities within the county that this may be the only web address you need to remember for local information.
At the top of the lefthand column, you will find an alphabetical listing of each county listing. With one quick click, you'll be visiting whichever office you choose.
In just a minute you can look up the top 10 most wanted miscreants through the Municipal Court or find the polling place in Hamilton Township through the Board of Elections by choosing the appropriate link.
At the bottom of the left side is a list of school districts and events. In a trice you can link to the Apple Festival site and get this year's daily schedule or push a button and learn that the first day of school in Oak Hill is August 19.
Jackson County now has a site that allows users to gain a great deal of knowledge about how this area works and how we play.
