Want to try your hand at carving a pumpkin? The Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Pumpkin Carving Contest as part of its first-ever Pumpkin Walk to be held Monday evening, October 15, at Central Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Halloween is just around the corner and the Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce has planned a special event to get local folk in the proper spirit.
The Oak Hill Chamber will conduct its first-ever Pumpkin Walk Monday, October 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Central Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
The event will include a Pumpkin Carving Contest with prizes, a special reading of the pumpkin story for children from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., a lighted walk through the park, and free refreshments in the form of apple cider and cookies.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
To enter the Pumpkin Carving Contest, one can carve his/her own pumpkin or go to the Oak Hill Foodland store and ask for a free pumpkin to carve. The Foodland pumpkins are being donated by the chamber, but are limited to one per person.
Entrants should then bring their carved pumpkins to Central Memorial Park between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, October 15. Carved pumpkins will be judged and included in the lighted Pumpkin Walk, which will begin at 7 p.m.
Participants in the Pumpkin Carving Contest will have a chance to win prizes in three different categories: Funniest, Scariest, and Most Unique.
Participants may enter multiple pumpkins and are encouraged to take their pumpkins home at the end of the event.
